An internship position is available for a highly motivated and collaborative student to assist in the development of novel cancer diagnostics. This paid position will be responsible for carrying out experiments focused on cancer biomarker discovery and diagnostic assay development. The candidate will report directly to a Scientist in the Genomics Science Laboratory and will likely work in a cross functional environment.
The ideal candidate will have some, or all, of the following technical skills: RNA/DNA extraction, PCR (standard, qPCR, digital PCR), next generation sequencing. Preferably, students will be beginning their senior year of undergraduate studies or be enrolled in graduate studies.
- Able to participate in molecular biology research projects, including in helping in the design and collection of experimental data.
- Responsible for analysis and clearly communicating results at group meetings on a regular basis.
- The candidate intern will be responsible for maintaining excellent records to document experimental goals, protocols, analysis and results.
- May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
- At least one year experience in a biology laboratory including background in standard molecular biology techniques.
- Ability to clearly communicate and present work in a formal setting.
- Must be conscientious, well-organized, and self-motivated.
