Training Manager (Oncology)

This position reports to the Associate Director of Commercial Learning and is responsible for the training of both Oncology and Urology Field Sales including new hire and on-going continued education programs. These training programs will be varied by specific training needs, and will include product specific training, disease-state training and other professional development programs to benefit newly hired and experienced Regional Oncogenomic Liaisons (ROLs) and Regional Urogenomic Liaisons (RULs). This job requires one-on-one collaboration with field trainers and regional work with ROLs, as well as partnership with the Commercial Learning team, Regional Managers (RMs), Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), Marketing and the Commercial organization as a whole.

· Develop and implement components of the sales training program related to the promotion of Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Assay for newly hired and experienced sales professionals. This includes, but is not limited to, communicating and coordinating the training programs both in Redwood City and at the regional level, creation of pre-work materials, and development of program agenda and management of the training program.
· Update and continuously refine materials utilized in the sales training program.
· Conduct ongoing assessment of the learning needs of both the field sales organizations.
· Partner with Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Sales Leadership to develop interactive and impactful workshops at national, area, and regional sales meetings.
· Responsible for developing, and managing continuing education for the entire sales force to result in an optimally trained, knowledgeable and professional sales organization.
· Conduct train-the-trainer sessions for field trainers and RM's on the roll-out of learning initiatives.
· Assess the effectiveness of the learning programs to ensure internal customer needs are met.
· Coach and train ROLs in the field on a one-on-one and group/classroom setting basis.
· At the request of the Regional Managers, work with sales professionals throughout the U.S. to assist in account development and implementation of key tactics within geographical territories; and as required develop individualized training programs to assist in specific skill development as identified by the Sales Leadership Team.
· Support the Commercial Learning team in the selection of vendors, as necessary, for the development and delivery of training materials.
· Develop learning materials by partnering with Medical, Marketing and Sales Leadership.
· Provide input and development to web-based learning tools.
· Utilize the learning management system (LMS) to organize new hire and ongoing training initiatives, while also leveraging its capabilities to identify learning gaps and/or improvements in the learning process.

· B.S. or B.A. degree
· 8+ years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology sales experience
· Approximately 3+ years of prior sales training experience preferred; highly successful oncology sales experience representing leadership in the region
· Strong understanding of molecular diagnostics and urology/oncology and the ability to distill high-level scientific information into easily understood concepts for an audience with diverse educational backgrounds and experience
· Strong understanding of adult learning principles with a demonstrated ability to apply those principles in a medical environment
· Seen as a leader by his/her peers and leadership
· Sales leadership experience along with strong urology/oncology KOL relationships a plus
· Highly adept project management skills to aid in the organization, planning, implementation and execution of learning initiatives
· Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
· Self-starter with results orientation, high degree of initiative and ability to excel on an individual contributor basis
· Manage multiple priorities simultaneously based on changing business needs
· Ability to tailor training/presentation based on audience
· Solutions oriented, ability to drive creative problem solving of diverse scope and detailed follow-through
· Teamwork attitude reflected in ability to successfully work across all levels of the organization with key stakeholders
· Highly proficient in MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
· Relevant experience in a tightly-controlled, regulatory environment


A successful candidate will be responsible for the training of both Oncology and Urology Field Sales including new hire and on-going continued education programs.
